Are You a Separated Dad? So, What? Dating for Single Dads is Easy!

February 14th, 2010

Are you a divorced dad? So what? As long as dating for single dads is easy! Can a divorced Dad be a great father? Perhaps a divorced guy should also ask: “Why not?” Just because you’re not divorced, it does not mean that you are not a great father. It’s really such a pity that our society considers someone as a dead beat parent just because he’s divorced. There are a lot of wonderful divorced fathers out there and you can learn a lot from them.

Keeping It Close. You’ve got to admit that children suffer a lot from the consequences of divorce. From irate parents, to separation anxiety, it’s a tough world out there for children whose parents are divorced or getting divorced.

Preserving a relationship with the children need sacrifice. Usually, both mother and father have to be able to set aside their differences long enough to inspect the damage that they have both caused to their children. More often than not, parents get so engrossed with their emotional pain that they fail to notice that their children suffer even more than they do.

If you are a single parent this is even more difficult. Dating for Dads and dating for mothers is the answer – don’t rush into things, but children need two parents and when you’re ready, you should get another partner.

Studies show that when two parents make a conscious effort to stay close to each other, then they have more successful and stable children. What more do you need to know? Kids require two parents. Never think that dating for single dads is out of the question. In fact, it is important for the kids. You know it is, don’t you?

A Formal Study: To emphasize the importance of a father’s closeness to his children, the State University of Arizona conducted a study of college students whose parents were divorced. The researchers observed personality, emotional and mental maturity, health, and even interest in school and success. The researchers found facts that support the idea that whoever had primary custody, it is certain that children need access to adults of both sexes.

Results: The findings are very surprising. statistics quite clearly show that kids who have only one parent have healthier and more mature relationships than their parents and make a conscious effort of keeping their family together.

Just over 60% of the children involved in the study asserted that their mother or, whoever had primary custodianship over them, moved them at least an hour’s drive away from where the other parent lived. The students were particularly worried about getting caught in the crossfire. Furthermore, when they stayed with one parent, future financial help (like for school or college) lessened. For example, if they stayed with Dad, Mum gave less when college came, and vice versa. So, the fact is that the 1 hour distance between them already had a negative effect on the children.

There will be emotional disturbance, it cannot really be prevented, but upon closer inspection of the children involved, it was clearly shown that those whose parents stayed close to them had a better emotional disposition and a better mentally too.

Summary: All in all, the case study shows that divorce does affect children. The way the parents treat each other and the distance they live from their children does have a significant impact that could determine whether the child succeeds or not. It is difficult to make friends with an ex-wife after all that has been said and done, but it will be more difficult for you as a divorced dad, when in the future, you see your children suffer the consequences of your actions.

As a divorced father, it is it is up to you. You owe it to yourself and to your children to make first step to remaining close.

Gourmet Chocolates For Your Paramour

February 11th, 2010

Almost everyone has a liking for chocolate, even if they would rather rebuff it. But some of us have a craze for it and if you tried gourmet chocolate, this would turn into a devotion. The sensation of its texture in your mouth as it melts is very pleasing and its richness takes this pleasure to a whole new level. Some people even say that they would rather chocolate over anything else.

Although chocolate is scrumptious, some chocolates are more enjoyable than others. A Snickers bar is full of chocolate but it is also stuffed with peanuts and caramel and the chocolate is not so great anyway. Thankfully, there are gourmet chocolates available to gratify any chocolate lover’s chocolate yearning.

There are enough different cacao inspired appetizing snacks out there to please almost everyone. There are kinds of chocolate that some people probably never have thought possible. Chocolates now even come in a chocolate-wine mixture to serve as a self-indulgent topping to a sweet.

Examples of the flavours you can get are: chocolate espresso merlot and chocolate raspberry cabernet. Many pure chocolate and wine lovers knew that wine and chocolate fitted well together, but would not have thought of combining them in a sauce. However, when they are poured over ice-cream, they are a pure delight to the taste buds.

Chocolates called truffles of all styles are also available for those with an extra sweet tooth, whether you like dark, milk or white chocolate. There are also boxes of chocolate to suit everybody’s needs. They contain a wide variety of different gourmet chocolates. Some people really enjoy coffee filled chocolates or cherry filled chocolates.

There are selection boxes of chocolates too which offer one or two of all the kinds of gourmet chocolates that that firm has to offer. Some of the combinations you will have heard of, others you will not. A selection box like this is a somewhat less expensive way of getting to know a manufacturer’s products.

If you just want an normal bar of gourmet chocolate, then those are available too from select suppliers. It is best to look online or in Yellow Pages. I have seen dark, milk and white chocolate bars presented, but I prefer the individual bonbons, although a bar is simpler to carry in your bag and it is the same high-quality chocolate, but without a filling..

These small, but delectable gourmet chocolates make perfect, romantic gifts for your paramour too. Also, if you know a chocolate lover, then they will greatly appreciate the sophisticated taste of these gourmet delights. They will know that you have spent your time and money buying them the only gift they really wanted.

Online shops that sell these luscious treats frequently also have gift certificates available, so if you cannot choose the best gourmet chocolates you can certainly let them do it for themselves with your voucher.

Romantic Presents for Your Girlfriend

February 11th, 2010

It is a fact that a lot of men become extremely stressed out when the time comes to go looking for a Valentine’s Day gift for their girlfriends. This is usually because they are concerned about choosing an inappropriate present. They are worried about giving a present that will be misinterpreted for the present phase of the relationship.

If they have just started dating their girlfriend, they may worry that an expensive present may be inappropriate, but at the same time, do not want to risk giving a present that will make their girlfriend think that they are mean.

This predicament makes getting a present for your girlfriend for St. Valentine’s Day a challenging task. I will try to give a couple of basic suggestions below to help you get started selecting a fitting gift for your girlfriend for St. Valentine’s Day.

The first thing you need to do when attempting to settle on a Valentine?s Day present for your girlfriend is to mull over what stage of the relationship you are currently in. This is very important because it will dictate which type of gift you can give to your girlfriend. If you and your girlfriend have been going out with each other for a long time and you are quite certain that you are both committed to each other, you can contemplate an extravagant present.

However, if you have only been dating for a short period and you are not sure where the relationship is heading, you might want to consider a less elaborate gift. There are no two ways about it, you have to weigh up your relationship, but you must also bear in mind that she might not think the same way as you.

You may believe that everything is going well and that the two of you are strongly committed, but she may feel as though the relationship is going nowhere. If you are having difficulties working out where you both stand, talk to your girlfriend about it. She will like that anyway and it will help to assure the two of you that you feel the same way about each other.

Flowers are the old stand-by and are an ideal gift for a man to give his girlfriend on St. Valentine’s Day, whether it is a new relationship or not. It is also such an easy gift because it is so widely associated with Valentine’s Day that it is not likely to misinterpretation. A gift of a dozen red roses is considered a romantic gift but it is also familiar enough that your girlfriend is not likely to read too much into it.

However, there is a common blunder associated with roses on Valentine’s Day. For instance, your girlfriend may be hurt and saddened by a gift of yellow roses because yellow roses are usually considered to be a symbol of friendship and not romantic love, so speak to the florist.

Jewelry is an apt present to give to your girlfriend on Valentine’s Day as long as the cost and type of the present is proportionate to the current phase of your relationship. This is not so tricky, it is black and white really. Ask yourself the question: ‘Is she worth $100?’.

However, a good middle of the road, romantic gift would be a box of expensive gourmet chocolates. It shows that you care enough to have sought out such a rare present, to have spent more than a few dollars and that you think she is sophisticated enough to appreciate them. She will love them, even if she is on a diet.

Valentine’s Day Alone for Single Young Women

February 10th, 2010

Some people do not like being alone on St. Valentine’s Day. Younger women in particular consider that being alone on St. Valentine’s Day carries a stigma, which makes them feel depressed and lonely. But just because someone is not in a relationship, it does not mean they cannot have a good time. I will give a couple of suggestions below to help you have a time to remember.

1] Call up all your single girlfriends and go clubbing. Many young men like to dance every now and again or to their favourite songs, but they do not want to dance non-stop. On the other hand, young women often do like to dance non-stop, so you may have a better time without a boyfriend in a club.

2] Another good idea for single girls on Valentine’s Day is to throw a movie night at your home. You can invite over all of your single friends and hire a few comedies. Instead of being gloomy and miserable, you and your friends can watch the movies and take the rise out of the characters in the film.

Hire a few horror films too for an extra special night. Lots of young people like horror films. They like to have a scream and hide their faces behind their friends’ backs. Treat the evening like a proper night at the movies and get popcorn, snacks, ice cream and cola, etc in.

3] You could hold a singles party. Invite all of your single friends and tell them they have to bring a friend of the opposite sex. Buy or borrow some of those games that make you answer personal questions like ‘Forfeits’ and ‘Twister’, where you have to put your hands and feet on different coloured spots on a plastic mat.

‘Mr and Mrs’ is another game where you ask one half of a ‘couple’ questions about the other in his absence. He has to corroborate the replies when he is invited back into the room. The answers could be side-splitting, because the contestants will not know each other well.

3] Hire a table in a non-romantic restaurant and get eight or more girlfriends to go out for a meal. Once the atmosphere begins building, things can become great fun and you could go dancing later.

4] You could organize a trip to the theatre and have a meal afterwards. Most people do not go to the theatre every year, so going with your friends on St. Valentine’s Day would make the day truly unforgettable.

5] You could make up a basket of your favourite things. Include some really special things like gourmet chocolate or other gourmet candy. Get something luxurious to drink that is appropriate to your age. Then you can pig out on your favourite foods and drink and watch a few films on your own or with your sister or other family member like a favourite cousin.

There are many things you can do to enjoy Valentine’s Day as a single girl, there’s no need to mope around feeling sorry for yourself at all.

St Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

February 7th, 2010

Without any shadow of a doubt at all, St Valentine’s Day is the most important day of the year for couples. Although many people contend that St Valentine’s Day is only a commercialized festival created for the purpose of encouraging people to buy cards, flowers and presents. However, there are others who do not care how St Valentine’s Day began and are just pleased to have a day when they can plan a romantic day with the one they love.

For many people, this day involves giving a gift of some type, whether this is a small gift or an expensive present, working out what to give your loved one for St Valentine’s Day can be a difficult decision. This article will offer a couple of suggestions for gifts on St Valentine’s Day.

1] One of the simplest, and most popular St Valentine’s Day presents is a card. It may not seem like a lot, but many people, women in particular, say that a card is one of the best presents they can receive on St Valentine’s Day. However, you cannot give just any old card, the best cards express your sentiments about your loved one and your liaison.

You can buy cards with a pre-printed rhyme, but can also find cards which are blank inside, so that you can write your own feelings and if you cannot find a card that looks like you want it to, you can even try making your own card.

2] Jewelry is another terrific present for St Valentine’s Day. Simple earrings might be appropriate for a new relationship, while a more expensive gift would be fitting for a relationship, which is more deeply rooted. No matter what the price of the present, the jewelry you give to your companion on St Valentine’s Day will be something she will really value.

3] A weekend break is another excellent present for St Valentine’s Day. This kind of gift is more fitting for couples who have been dating for a while or who are married. If you and your partner have never traveled together before, you might want to discuss the gift with your partner beforehand as opposed to surprising him or her with the present.

4] What would St Valentine’s Day be without candy? The most traditional gifts on St Valentine’s Day are flowers and candy. While these presents are greatly appreciated, most women would agree that candy is their favourite part of the duo. Flowers are beautiful and are always treasured, but chocolates, and especially gourmet chocolates are the number one.

5] Finally, there is no reason why Valentine’s Day gifts have to be any different than gifts you would give for other occasions such as a birthday or Christmas. You can give things such as clothing, DVDs, CDs, electronic gadgets or anything else that you know your partner will appreciate. As long as you are giving your companion a gift you know he or she will like, it will make a good gift for St Valentine’s Day.

What Is A Rose Trying To Tell You?

February 1st, 2010

More roses are sold in the few days before St. Valentine’s Day than in any other similar timespan in the year. Until not so long ago, people were mindful of the significance of the colours of roses (I am pretty sure that it did not concern other flowers too).

For instance, it would have been a serious faux pas to give a young teenage girl a red rose, but not a pink or a yellow one. All the colours had a significance. However, it is a bit like reading Tarot cards, not everyone agrees on those significances.

Anyway, out of interest and to keep the tradition going, I will give you the commonly accepted meanings of the colours of roses hereunder.

‘My love is like a red, red rose’, so goes the poem and when most people think of a rose, the first colour that in all probability comes to mind is red and, in fact, the word ?rose? comes from the Latin word ?rosa?, which means red.

It is also true that red roses are the most common and the most bought colour, but there are so many other colours that there is an entire lexicon of significance that can be said with them.

Here are some colours and their meaning:

Red – Love, romance, beauty, obsession, yearning and respect

Burgundy – Unwitting loveliness

Red but withered – Our love is over

White – Wholesomeness, youth, pure love and virginal virtuousness

Pink – Happiness, admiration, gratitude and grace

Dark Pink – Thankfulness or thank you

Yellow – Happiness, gladness, companionship, pleasure or platonic love

Yellow with Red Tip – Falling in Love

Orange – Fascination, yearning, or enthusiasm

Red and White – (a bouquet of roses of two colours) – Ardent purity or unity

Peach – Sincerity, gratitude, indebtedness, modesty, admiration, or sympathy

Lavender – Love at first sight or enchantment

Black – Death or our love is over

Blue – Unfeasible, unachievable or secrecy

Red Rosebud – Symbol of wholesomeness and beauty

White Rosebud – Girlhood or youth

Thornless Rose – “Love at First Sight”

Single Rose – Straightforwardness

Two Roses – An engagement or impending marriage

Rose Leaves – Symbol of hope

Roses – Sent every month – loveliness ever renewed

Unfortunately, there no true black or blue roses in nature, as the pigment structures in the rose do not allow these colours to be bred, although it has not stopped gardeners trying for hundreds of years. However, there are some very dark purple roses, which are used in stead of black roses. There are also some very pale lavender roses that seem to be blue, but have a shade of pink in them. Traditionally, blue roses are usually white roses dyed.

No matter what you want to express with your flowers, a bouquet of roses can articulate your emotions. So next time you give a bouquet of roses, why not try to express what you want to say by selecting the colours with care. The recipient probably will not understand these day, but you could send them a copy of this article or have fun explaining the meaning to them over a bottle of wine.

Choosing Scent For Somebody

January 30th, 2010

A person’s scent is a unique way of expressing oneself. Some people choose the perfume they wear depending on their frame of mind, some wear one perfume during the day and another in the evening, while many people choose to wear the same scent all the time. Others have a favourite, very expensive scent that they wear only on special occasions.

Whatever someone does, the choice is a personal one. Some people use a perfume like a personal trademark, so that whenever you get a whiff of that particular bouquet, you automatically think of that one person. My mother used a scent called ‘Wild Gorse’ made by the monks on Caldy Island in west Wales for this purpose. Very, very few other people had that scent, as you had to go to the island to obtain it.

It is almost impossible to choose perfume for someone you do not know, unless you go for a famous, expensive name like Chanel No. 5. There are few women who would turn down a bottle of that, even if it was not their favourite perfume. The more you know the person the easier it should get, in theory at least.

So, how do you know which perfumes are going to be a welcome gift? That is the $65k question. There are a number of ways that reduce the odds of you making a slip-up. You could take a sneak look on their dressing table to see what that person wears already.

If you think far enough ahead, you could bring it up in conversation with an off-hand compliment like: ‘Oh, what a lovely scent/after shave! I like that. What is it called?’. But you have to do it weeks before you need the information.

Or you could choose a scent that brings a special memory to mind, like the perfume that was worn on their wedding day, anniversary, or graduation day. Perfumes like these bring back pleasant memories and make them feel good by association. If you are not a bosom buddy of the one you want to buy for, you could ask their friends’ advice.

If you want to give a gift of perfume to someone that you want to remember you by, why not invite them out for a meal or a show and a meal and present the perfume in the restaurant? Most perfumes lose their potency after four or five hours, which is why many women top up every now and again with a spray from their handbags. Very few men do this.

So, if you give the scent later on in the evening, there is less chance of it clashing with what they are already wearing, meaning that someone is more likely to dab a bit on there and then, thereby associating the fragrance in their memory with the night you took them out. Just make sure it was a first-rate night out.

If all of the above fails, then most shops offer perfume gift sets which include the perfume , a powder and body lotion. These scent gift boxes are a decent option, even if the person only wears it to go to bed or around the house.

Chocolate Candy For Lovers

January 23rd, 2010

Chocolate candy must be the most popular sort of candy in the world. It certainly is in Europe and America. We eat tons and tons of Mars, Cadburys, Lindt and Nestle chocolate candy every year. The depressing thing is that most of the people who admit to liking chocolate have never tasted a decent bar of chocolate in their lives.

To a connoisseur, chocolate candy can come from anywhere in the world although Belgium, Switzerland and France are the countries, whose names come to mind first. Despite that, good chocolate candy is also made in Great Britain, Spain, the USA and some parts of Latin America.

This is not surprising as chocolate first made its debut among the Mayans of Central America in at least 300 BC and perhaps even as far back as 3000 BC. In 300 AD it was a special drink reserved for royalty and was very bitter. It was so special that it had to be drunk from a golden chalice and that chalice could be used for that intention only once.

In those days, many more herbs and spices were added to the royal drink called xocoatl. It was also a lot purer in terms of cacao content than practically anything you can buy on the shelves in the supermarket today as well. The nearest we have to that purity is gourmet chocolate.

Gourmet chocolate will usually have been manufactured by a chocolatier, which is similar to what a chef is to cuisine. These manufacturers of chocolate candy are the best in the world, highly skilled and head-hunted by the best chocolate makers. They can demand large salaries and become world famous among the aficionados of fine chocolate candy.

Fine chocolate candy should have a high chocolate content. That sounds as if it should go without saying, doesn’t it? However, to be called chocolate in the US, candy only has to contain 15% actual chocolate and ‘bakers’ chocolate’ often does not contain any at all. In Europe that figure is 35%, which is why most Americans think that European chocolate candy is sumptuous.

Good chocolate candy should break cleanly with an audible ’snap’ and ought to have a shiny surface. The chocolate candy most liable to have a high cacao content is dark chocolate, which is also often somewhat bitter, reminiscent of the actual taste of cacao before most manufacturers put sugar into the mix. Purer chocolate candy also melts on the tongue and produces a mild euphoria.

Purer forms of chocolate candy have had a variety of reputations over the centuries. It has the reputation of being a pick-me-up and had the reputation of being an aphrodisiac, probably for the same reason. This is due to a chemical naturally present in the bean called Theobromine. Theobromine has effects on other animals too. For example, it is a proscribed substance for racing horse because it has an huge effect on horses and chocolate should never be given to cats or dogs because it is poisonous to them.

Theobromine and another chemical present, phenethylamine, have been linked with the production of seratonin, which is stimulated by prescribed drugs to ward off depression.

Solar Power Electricity-Should You Use It To Save Money?

January 20th, 2010

Solar power electricity is one of the most popular forms of alternative energy that is available today. They people promise great things about this but does it work as well as they promise or is it a total scam? Once you finish reading every word of this article, you will know if you should get solar electricity or if you should do something else.

1-You need to look at the cost

If you are considering getting solar power electricity, the first thing you will need to take a look at is the cost. I think once you realize how much it is actually going to cost, it is going to be an unpleasant surprise. After you add up everything that you will need, the price gets steep. You will need to purchase the solar panel itself, you will need to purchase all the supplies to maintain it, and unless you know what you are doing it will cost you a lot of money to install.

2-Check to make sure it works

So now that you know solar power is expensive, you need to know if it works. That is one of the most common questions we get. The answer to that question is simple, yes it does work. It will save you some money, but the money you spend right off the bat is way more than you will be saving. Another downside to solar power electricity is the fact that it only works when the sun is out. If it is night time or a very cloudy day then you will not be able to use it to it’s max potential.

3-Know that you are very dependent on the environment

We kind of went over this in number two, but you will be totally dependent on things you cannot control, such as the weather. But it does not stop there, you are dependent on the air as well. If the air is polluted, that will get in the way of the suns rays and you will no longer be able to generate electricity. It is important to understand that with solar electricity, you will not be able to control when you will and when you will not be able to get electricity.

Solar Power Electricity is one of the most popular forms of alternate energy but it is not the best. To learn more about saving money on electricity just Click Here
